The Difference Between Satellite TV and Cable TV

January 16th, 2008 | by admin |

Cable television is actually technically a form of satellite tv. The difference is that the end users do no have their own satellite receivers. What we usually mean when we say “satellite tv” is direct-to-home satellite television or DTH TV. This is in contrast to cable TV, where in the satellite signals are not sent directly to you home, but rather are sent through a cable service provider that has all the necessary equipment to receive satellite signals and decode them. This was once quite necessary due to the higher cost of satellite television a few generations back, which made it expensive for home users.
