I see lots of people shoplifting lots of the time, but putting stuff in there jackets and bags, why dont the alarms go off when walking through the sensors?

There aren’t sensors in many non electronic items.
Why did you allow the crime to take place ?
I could not stand around while I knew someone was being robbed.

People shoplift at Kmart so easily because the senors are very old and because there’s not much security.

I worked loss prevention at Kmart when I was in college. One of the worse jobs I have ever had. Kmart had a policy that stated you could not detain a shoplifter, even if they set off the alarm, unless you actually saw them pick up the item off the shelf, conceal it and then walk out of the store with it. You would constantly have to keep an eye on them, if you lost sight of them, even for a split second, you could not detain them. They were afraid of lawsuits. Afraid that we would stop someone outside the store, that we saw take something, but then put it back before leaving then claim we were making an illegal detention. We couldn’t even use the cameras.

because kmart can’t afford more security personel and they never have enough clerks. i guess to keep their prices low.
